Receive with Thanksgiving

Here is a faithful saying, which is much needed in these times we live in. I know that some suffer from anxiety over the condition of our nation, and the state of the world in general. Yet, don’t we all know that these things must happen before the end comes? And even though we don’t know the time, we can see the things that are changing, just like the fig leaf, and how it changes, bringing a change to the season. But let me share with you some scripture that will comfort you, as well as cause you to remain alert during these times. Not to fear, but to recognize what is happening around us: “Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teaching of demons, through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared. They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods that God created to be received with gratitude by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, since it is sanctified by the word of God and by prayer. If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished by the words of the faith and the good teaching that you have followed. But have nothing to do with irreverent and silly myths. Rather, train yourself in godliness,” 1 Timothy 4:1-7 So know that in these times you will see a movement away from the faith, and we do see this today, especially from the young who were raised in the faith. We need to bathe our young in prayer. But because the world not only rejects Christ, but those who follow Him are in the same category. (I praise God for that, for I want to be associated with Christ, regardless of the cost). But many who reject the faith have taken up replacement philosophy to fill the void that is left in the hearts of weak believers. Later, Paul would write to Timothy: “But you, man of God, run from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the faith; take hold of eternal life that you were called to and have made a good confession about in the presence of many witnesses.” 6:11-12 We build shelters for when the approaching tornado comes, and just like that feel a confidence in the shelter. Let’s seek shelter in the arms of Jesus, for He is our shelter in times of trouble. He is the Rock on which we stand when the sand is causing us to sink. He is the Commander, when we have lost our way, and don’t know which way to go; He is the one who cares when we have lost all who might stand beside us. So take heart because with all that is going on in the world, and it looks bleak for the future, know that our Lord has not left us alone. He is aware of all that is going on around us, and at the right time, He will make it all right, His way! Have faith, even when your faith is faltering, for He will work with what you have. Seek the shelter of His mighty wings, and you will be at peace through all of this. Pastor Andy
