As a kid, did you ever play “piling on”? “Piling on” is catching an individual in a defenseless position and a group of kids start jumping on him/her collectively. Sometimes, it’s fun. Other times, when kids become too rambunctious, the “victim” is terrified of being smothered or crushed. Do you find life to be a lot like that? You may be a mom/dad in a household full of energetic children who are out of control along with bills that keep “piling on” with a needy spouse and a boss who thinks your job is the center of the world
It could be an addiction that keeps “piling on” and you cannot get out from under the pile.
Or, you could be an individual that can’t stop fears and anxieties uncontrollably “piling on” in your mind. Then, you have a 24X7 job of masquerading to others that you have everything in control. Life is no fun living this “double life”. Personally, I lived this life for thirty plus years. Being “piled on” smothers the life out of you. What do you do?
Do you know that Jesus is at the door of your heart knocking this very moment? Revelation 3:20 says it this way, “Hey, I’m here standing at the door of your heart knocking. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with you, and you with me.” If you are currently “under the pile”, I am asking you to simply stop and in the quietness of your heart open the door. HALT everything that is flooding your mind and invite Jesus in.
Then, I want you take five minutes to read and meditate on how pleasant yet powerful the words are in Proverbs 3:5&6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him (recognize who He is), and he will make your paths straight.” Allow me to meditate with you for a few seconds…
“Lord, I am trusting you with all my heart”…
“I do not and will not rely on my own understanding today”…
“In all my ways I want to know and recognize you…You are my God”…
“I am asking you to straighten my paths today as I walk with you.”
If you are under the pile, you probably know a genuine Godly friend. Reach out to this person, humble yourself, and confess that you are “under the pile” and need help. James 5:16 declares, “confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” With this dear friend, find a small group that is authentic and transparent and start the process of recovery from whatever is “piling on” you. Let me suggest that you find a local “Re Gen” group. You can “comment” to me if you would like in this post. I will try my best to help you out.
Start reading your Bible daily. Romans 1:16 declares, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” The Greek word translated “power” is “dunamis”. This word means a miraculous, mighty power. We get the word, dynamite, from this word. The Word of God will become dynamite as you work through your problems.
God will get you out from under the pile!
