Are We Flushing “Today’s” Down the Toilet?

Life happens T-O-D-A-Y.  How many opportunities do we miss because we are reminiscing about yesterday or yearning for tomorrow?  What if each of us acted as if this very day is all that is guaranteed to us by God?  What if everywhere we go daily, we go expecting that God has something for us to do?

The Bible is very clear about this:

  • Matthew 6:34 explains, “Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  Matthew was crystal clear, regarding the concerns of life.  Don’t focus on tomorrow, T-O-D-A-Y has its own issues and things that need to be done.
  • 2 Corinthians 6:2, “For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”  God’s favor and salvation is “now”…T-O-D-A-Y. Prioritizing living life “right now” changes the game.  Each stride we take becomes meaningful.
  • Psalm 118:25 is eye opening, The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.”  Emphasizing T-O-D-A-Y, you get to see God at work each day which results into personal joy.  Letting God-be-God daily stimulates Philippians 4:4 living, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice.”
  • The “Lord’s Prayer” (Matthew 6:11) fixes our eyes on T-O-D-A-Y, “Give us today our daily bread.”

Matthew 5:14-16 calls each of us to be light T-O-D-A-Y.  You cannot recreate yesterday’s light today or pull tomorrow’s light into today.  We are challenged “T-O-D-A-Y” to shine our lights. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven”.  Have your light on each day, all day so that God can reveal to you deeds that need to be done.  Do not allow the devil, world, or flesh to cover up your light.

From my understanding, the proper translation of “go” in the Grant Commission (Matthew 28:19&20) is “going”.  As we are “going” through life daily (each T-O-D-A-Y), we are to be sharing Jesus.

Many of us are still dealing with things in the past.  Others are caught up with planning the future giving little time to being in the “now”.  I am afraid that we are flushing “T-O-D-A-Y’s” down the toilet.”  Stay in the moment asking God T-O-D-A-Y to change others through the impact of your daily life.
