It’s All About Him

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together. He is also the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross – whether things on earth or things in heaven.”  Colossians 1:15-20  The Apostle John would also write that, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created.” John 1: 1-3  Just think of the Awesomeness of the Lord, when you read these two passages. Jesus is the focus of God. He gave this Son He loved to be the propitiation for our sins, and because of the obedience of Jesus, God turned it all over to Him. He is the embodiment of the Father. To look at this from a heavenly view, He is elevated over all things either in heaven or on earth. We give special attention to leaders on earth, and show them special consideration, because of their title, even when perhaps they don’t deserve the title. But Jesus deserves the title, and the title is far above any that could possibly be issued here on earth. Yet, do we see Jesus this way?  Is He heavenly, or is He earthly. Do we envision Him on an earthly scale? Do we see Him only as our thoughts can imagine a powerful leader? Do we revere Him as He is worthy to be revered. I think not! Because if we did, we wouldn’t keep trying to subdue His authority here on earth. He is the supreme authority, and we mark our money with, “IN GOD WE TRUST!” Yet do we honestly trust Jesus with EVERYTHING in our lives?  He should be central to all our thinking; He should be given the honor far above that which we honor men; He should be revered above all that is formed, yet He is given a place in the church, but not on the very ground He formed. He is given a place at the table, but not on the fields He gives growth to.  He is often placed second on the purpose for work, having money as the first purpose. After all, we have to live.  But what is living? Is it having money, having things, or is it having Christ as Lord of our lives totally and always, 24/7?  Read the Scripture again. He holds all things together!  All things have been created through Him and FOR Him.  He should have first place in everything.  That means that everything in our lives exists to worship Jesus. Everything that we own, we are only the stewards of if we give everything over to Him for His glory and His purpose.  I know this might be a hard concept for many to accept, but either Jesus is Lord of ALL, or He is not Lord at all.  It’s time we started viewing Him as central in our lives, and that our lives revolve around Him, not the other way around. Let’s put Him back on the throne or our lives where He belongs. Then trust Him with ALL that we have and all we do, for He is the author over our lives and our purpose here on earth. And I can think of no better way to live, than for Christ, for He is worthy. Pastor Andy
