Due Time Zone

My wife (Pam) and I moved from Marietta, GA to Plano, TX in 1982.  One of the differences was the change from Eastern Time Zone to Central Time Zone.  This was years before DVR’s became popular, and TV was watched real time.  Many of our favorite programs no longer began at 10:00PM Eastern Time Zone with local news starting at 11:00PM.  They began at 9:00PM Central Time Zone with local news at 10:00PM.  This gave Pam and me an extra hour of sleep!

Do you know that God has a time zone that greatly impacts our lives?  It is called “Due Time Zone.”  This time zone is not based on the sun.  It is based on the Son!

The Apostle Peter says it this way in his first book (5:6-7 NIV), Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.  Peter says that God will “lift you up in due time” after you “Humble yourselves…under God’s mighty hand.”  Verse 7 shows us how to humble ourselves, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”  Stop trying to resolve personal issues in the energy of your flesh.  Step down off the throne in your heart and surrender control to Him by “casting all your anxiety on Him.”

God will wait on you until each and every anxiety is trusted to His care.  Philippians 4:6 tells us clearly “to not be anxious in anything (each thing).”  Later in verse 6, it instructs “in everything make your request known unto God.” Trusting Him in each and everything is a big deal in the “due time zone”.  He doesn’t want you to trust Him in some things in your life while keeping others under your own control.  “In each and everything” trust Him.  Once this is the attitude of your heart, you will be “lifted up” indue time zone”.

The Apostle Paul states it this way in Galatians 6:9 (NASB), “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”  If we do “not lose heart in doing good…in due time we will reap.”  Then, Paul tells us what “doing good” looks like in verse 10, “So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.”  Be a doer of good to “all people, especially to those who are of the household of the faith” and “in due time” you will reap a bountiful harvest.

Physically, no matter the time zone you live in, spiritually, your life is based in the “Due Time Zone.”  Humble yourself under His mighty hand, do good to all people and live in the “due time zone.”
