There is very little factual truth spoken in the world today. Observe different newscasts and the same issue will be addressed with very different opinions. In our world, truth has become perceptions which best fits selfish agendas or needs. “Truth” is being compromised for the “greater good” and has been cheapened. There is no longer a solid platform for life and behavior. The devil loves this and is smack in the middle of the chaos.
The Bible speaks candidly about the power amassed by the devil. 1 John 5:19 addresses this straightforwardly, “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.” An eye-opening encounter between Jesus and the devil occurred in Matthew 4:8-10, “The devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. ‘All this I will give you,’ he said, ‘if you will bow down and worship me.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” Notice that Jesus did not debate the devil owned “kingdoms of this world” and was behind much of “their splendor.” Satan has power!
With all is his power, is the devil afraid of anything? Yes, he is. HE’S TERRIFIED OF THE TRUTH!
In the 8th chapter of John, three verses make things clear. 1st, verse 44 vividly describes the devil, “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” He is a liar and the master of deception. Verses 31 and 32, you see clearly how to deflate and defeat his expanding power, “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Please notice that truth is found in the inspired Word of God. The devil cannot win the battle against anyone who abides in and holds to the truth. You will be set free.
John 15:7 states, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” Hebrews 4:12 declares, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” The Word of God reveals the truth down into the deepest crevices in your mind and allows you the ability to live life abundantly, purposefully, and peacefully. Abide in and cling to it and you will know the truth and it will set you free.
The devil is powerful, but the Lord is all-powerful. Power is not the issue…that’s a done deal. Live the truth found in God’s Word, and you will experience the omnipotence of God.
Dealing with the devil is “A TRUTH ENCOUNTER NOT A POWER ENCOUNTER.”
