Amazing Graciousness

We as believers have experienced God’s “amazing grace”.  When you look at John 3:16 and Ephesians 2:8&9, we have to shake our heads in thankfulness and praise at the marvelous grace of God.

  • John 3:16 declares, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  God willingly gave up His Son so that we do not have to perish in our sins.  Once we receive Him, we experience eternal life.  What amazing grace!
  • Ephesians 2:8&9 explains, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”  Grace is God giving us what we don’t deserve…amazing grace.

One wonders why everyone doesn’t ask and receive this marvelous gift.  Not being Mr. Judgmental here, but we as His children are doing a poor job of showing the world “amazing graciousness.”  I am not sure how many of us actually touch our world with grace displayed in gentleness.  Instead, we have become quite judgmental.  Matthew 7:1 clearly states, “For with the judgment you pronounce, you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?”  It seems that too manyChrist-followers enjoy being “in-speck-ters” when all along we have a log in our own eyes.  We can’t see clearly to inspect anyone else.  Paul the Apostle in Galatians 6:1 tells us how to engage others with amazing graciousness:

  • Galatians 6:1, “if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentlenessBear one another’s burdens.”  Restore others gently without judgment nor condemnation but with amazing graciousness.
  • “Colossians 3:4:5&6, Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Colossians 3:12-14 is what amazing graciousness looks like, “12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate heartskindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”

You live out Colossian 3:12-14 and the amazing graciousness in your life will be healing and whole to others.  We have a wonderful, marvelous Savior and Lord who gives us amazing grace.  Now, let Him fill you up with AMAZING GRACIOUSNESS “which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
