Psalm 25:4&5 records an intimate, humbling prayer from David, “Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long.” I pray for each one of us that this is the prayer of our heart daily. David totally yields his heart to God and permits Him to “make me…lead me…teach me your ways, your paths, and your truth.” Why? “For you are my God; for you I wait all day long.”
God promises that if we hunger and thirst for Him, He will bless us. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” (Matthew 5:6). If we sincerely and persistently seek Him, we “shall be satisfied.”
Matthew says it this way, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (6:33). Then, he tells us in verse 6:34 to “not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Keep your eyes on Him in the “moment by moments” of life. Then, in verse 7:7, he says for us “keep asking and it shall be given you, keep seeking and you shall find, keep knocking and the door shall be opened to you.”
Isaiah 26:3&4 echoes Matthew’s thoughts, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever (moment by moment), for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” If you are like me, you are either rehashing your past in your minds or worried about your future. Your mind is seldom “stayed” on Him.
Hunger and thirst for Him and trust Him in the “now’s” of life keeping your mind “stayed” on Him. YOU WILL BE SATISFIED!
