Yesterday, Pam and I met with five neighbors who pooled together with us to buy a 40 game/4 seat season ticket package to see the Texas Rangers of the Major League Baseball play. There is a buzz in the air for baseball fans anticipating the season officially starting in about a month!
Did you know that home plate on a baseball field is always 17” wide? I don’t care if you are playing tee ball, coach pitch ball, junior league ball, high school ball, college ball, semi-pro ball or Major League ball, home plate is always 17” wide. So, the pitcher, the catcher, the batter, and the umpire, all know at any age, for every game played, what the strike zone is. It is a constant for today, yesterday, and tomorrow…always 17” wide.
Followers of Jesus Christ can declare the same thing about Him, “He is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). You can absolutely bank on this fact. God will always be the same. There is never a reason to worry about God being moody. He does not change. James 1:16&17 states “Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
Psalms 121 speaks eloquently to the fact that this God who never changes is available 24X7, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
Our God never changes and is always there for you. “God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” 6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid” (Hebrew 13:5&6). Trust Him always…
Would love to join y’all one day! Ain’t much professional sports out here in Wichita Falls, not since the Cowboys left…
