Last week I ran the Yellow Brick Road with a class. The YBR is about six miles through the woods, on the road and over numerous obstacles. I thought I was physically prepared … the next day my body said otherwise!!! The below is a segment of a devotional by Pastor Andy as he was dealing with similar physical ailments! I can so relate!
“And we exhort you, brothers: warn those who are irresponsible, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient with everyone. See to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all. Rejoice always! Pray constantly. Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Don’t stifle the Spirit. Don’t despise prophecies, but test all things. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:14-22 So if you are having a tough time getting going today, praise Him, for there is always someone who has it worse off than you. Rejoice that we have the comfort in Jesus to walk through another day; be thankful for the Lord is good, and every muscle that aches, every joint that is screaming at you, every thought that makes you want to try to go back in bed, is a praise that you have the ability to live for the faith one more day. Let the Spirit flow in you, so that you can do all things, even when your mind thinks it is impossible right now. Plan another task, and prepare for the next full opportunity to work those kinks out.
