The Worst Pandemic Disease of All Time

The word pandemic comes from two Greek works.  The Greek words “pan” means all and “demos” means people.  A pandemic disease affects all people worldwide.  It is amazing how the recently diagnosed coronavirus potentially impacts each person anywhere and everywhere.  Coronaviruses are a group of related viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds.  The particular form of the coronavirus that is prevalent today is classified as COVID-19.  Here is the problem.  There are no known vaccines or antiviral drugs to prevent or treat human coronavirus infections.  Thus, our current world is in a state of panic.  Can you believe what has happened here in the States?  Now all flights are banned from Europe.  The NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, churches, concerts, companies, schools from kindergarten to university levels, etc. are all shutting down and everything is going virtual.  My wife and I were really looking forward to attending the Chris Stapleton with Willie Nelson concert Saturday evening the first event ever in the brand-new Globe Life Field and the 1st official game of the Texas Rangers on March 31 in the same stadium.  To our chagrin, they were both canceled! People are staying home to keep from contact with others who may test positive for the coronavirus.  Man, have you tried to go the grocery store?  What happened to toilet paper, antibacterial swipes, water, etc.?  The shelves are empty.  We are in the midst of a global pandemic disease environment.

Yet, this disease does not come close to be the worst of the global diseases.  This COVID-19 only impacts people for the few years of life we experience on this globe.  What if I told you the worst of the pandemic diseases impact people for eternity!?  Romans 5:12 is scary, sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.”  The disease of sin from one man has passed onto every person on this earth!  That includes you and me.  If we all understood the importance of this disease, we would be in a panic to get a hold of the vaccine.

No need to panic!  There is a cure.  Are you sure you may be asking?  Absolutely!  Romans 5:18-19 exclaims the cure, 18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s (Jesus) obedience the many will be made righteous.” Through one man, sin passed on to all men.  The vaccine for this horrific disease is the death of an innocent man (Jesus) on the cross who shed His blood enabling God to forgive us and cleanse us of our sin foreverJohn 3:16 further describes the solution for our personal sin, 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”  Invite Jesus into your heart and you will be made eternally whole…no condemnation.
