There have been many times where it would have been nice to know the answer before a question came to mind. To know the result before I tried something. The outcome before we started anything.
But where’s the challenge in that? Where’s the faith that things may turn out as I hoped? Faith. It should be an essential part of our lives. The writer of Hebrews says that “faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see” Hebrews 11:1
Just as the apostle Paul experienced, I may not know what awaits me around the next bend, but I have the faith to know that God is not only with me before I get to that bend, but also around that next bend. I also know that I must go because, like Paul says, it is part of finishing the work that God gave me to tell the world about the Good News and the wonderful love of God.
Are we willing to move ahead in a world of uncertainty? Are you afraid to jump in? Life is full of uncertainty but God wants us to be bolstered by faith in Him.
“I don’t know what awaits me…but my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God” Acts 20:22, 24
