In normal light, you look through the air around you and it looks clear and clean. However, a sunbeam of light shines through a window in that same air and it is frightening! There are all kinds of dust particles floating in the air.
This is much like what happens to us in the spiritual realm. The Bible says in Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” (darkness). Great news is discovered in Colossians 1:12-14, “and give joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Once in the “kingdom of light,” God calls us to live in the light of Jesus and become lights to this world:
1 John 1:6-7, “If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
Matthews 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Become a sunbeam of light to others.
