There is an explosive passage in Mark 11:22-25, “22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
Verses 22 and 23 declare that if we have faith in God, we can move mountains. He does not quantify the size of the mountain. John 15 puts this in context, 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. In other words, pray God’s heart asking without doubt, and it will be done no matter the mountain.
Verse 24 then tells you how to ask, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Notice the verb tense regarding your faith. Once you know God’s will, ask believing “you have received it, and it will be yours.” You believe that it’s done then you receive.
However, all bets are off receiving what you ask for if you are not obedient to verse 25. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. The bible forewarns us, don’t think God will do anything if you do not have a forgiving heart. He will not move any mountain if while asking, you hold a grudge against anyone. Matthew 5 states 23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.” First forgive, then believe without doubt what you ask, and mountains will be moved! All bets are off if you stand in unforgiveness.
