For a lot of people, trust is a very serious issue! Probably because of my career, but I typically live by the mantra: TNO – Trust No One!!! At the writing of this blog entry I am one of those federal employees who are going to work and not getting paid no going on 33+ days, so you can probably guess that my trust in the government is not that great! Work for the government they said … it’s job security they said!!!
All kidding aside, in the next couple of days, this issue is going to be exacerbated for many when the next payday comes and goes without a check. I have told several people who have asked how things are going: 1) I am glad I am not a new employee just getting started now, since I have had time, by God’s grace and provision, to set aside an emergency fund and 2) how thankful I am that God is my provider and NOT the federal government! Which brings me to the core of this blog … who can you trust? Of course, the answer is God! I recently saw a post that outlined 6 reasons you can trust God. They are:
He knows your name – Isaiah 43:1 But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
He will fight for you – Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
He thinks about you – Psalm 139:17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
He has plans for you – Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
He is your refuge – Psalm 62:6-8 6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7 My salvation and my honor depend on God[a]; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. 8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge..
He is always with you – Matthew 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Father, thank You that when all else fails … we can trust You! Thank You that You ultimately have our back and that nothing that happens is a surprise to You nor is it anything that You can’t handle! You are Jehova Jira our provider and as Your word says, our “rock and salvation”! Glory to God!!!
