As we all look to hopes and dreams for 2019 I wanted to share a dream story with you.
A member of our team who is home for now just shared of their time among an unreached people group. (defined as <1% Christian)
He had befriended a local man who one day asked him to go visit his brother outside of town. Being able to meet family is an important part of our ministry strategy so he agreed (See Luke 10).
They hopped onto his little scooter and navigated the dirt road. Little did he know that this man was an Al Qaeda operative who planned to kill him that day.
When they arrived at the brothers house he greeted them and the motor scooter brother told him that he brought a man with him who was follower of Isa al Masih (the name for Jesus in the Quran). The host brother got very excited and shared that he had been having dreams that week about Jesus and that he was told he would soon meet a man that would further explain who Jesus was to him. That afternoon they talked and eventually they began to study the Injil – the bible – together.
They and their families eventually gave their lives to Isa al Masih and were baptized into the family of God! And later the motor scooter brother confessed what his plan was for that day and his former allegiance, which he now renounced.
As we all dream of what lies ahead for 2019 let’s celebrate that God is using all of us to: “spread the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing” (2 Cor 15-17).
As a follower of Isa al Masih: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Pet 2:9)
How will God use you this year to introduce Jesus to those you know that are far from him? What opportunities lie ahead for you this year to be his ambassador? (2 Cor 5:20)
