1“This is My Servant; I strengthen Him,
this is My Chosen One; I delight in Him.
I have put My Spirit on Him;
He will bring justice to the nations.
2He will not cry out or shout
or make His voice heard in the streets.
3He will not break a bruised reed,
and He will not put out a smoldering wick;
He will faithfully bring justice.
4He will not grow weak or be discouraged
until He has established justice on earth.
The islands will wait for His instruction.”
5This is what God, Yahweh, says —
who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and what comes from it,
who gives breath to the people on it
and life to those who walk on it —
6“I, Yahweh, have called You
for a righteous purpose,
and I will hold You by Your hand.
I will keep You and appoint You
to be a covenant for the people
and a light to the nations,
7in order to open blind eyes,
to bring out prisoners from the dungeon,
and those sitting in darkness from the prison house.
8I am Yahweh, that is My name;
I will not give My glory to another
or My praise to idols.
9The past events have indeed happened.
Now I declare new events;
I announce them to you before they occur.”
I find it continually encouraging to read God’s Word and find strength. Even more exciting when something is read that brings NEW LIFE to your day. For myself, this occurred today in Isaiah 42:1-9.
While first focused on the description the Father paints of Jesus, our Lord, His Son, the One that restores our lives with God, I read that Jesus will not “cry out or shout or make His voice heard in the streets”. It seems odd to us as finite humans that as the God with all powerful and everlasting dominion would choose to NOT Shout His commands and decrees… rather speak to the masses through whispers and creation alone. Reading on He “calls us out for a righteous purpose”? This is directed as what Jesus is doing and is to do but we must remember His mission is OUR MISSION now.
As sons of this King we are to be HIS servants and on HIS mission. Therefore WE are called out to a righteous purpose as Christ is… even more see this…
” The past events have indeed happened.
Now I declare new events;
I announce them to you before they occur.”
That is… God has told Christ was is coming before it comes… and with my imperfect finite mind I can conclude that if I am a son of the King, I am infused with His Spirit, You and I together, all of the believers in His mission, born in His image and having “the mind of Christ”…
then we are to hear the announcing and declaration of events before they occur as well?
Is that too hard to understand this morning? To believe that God will tell us some things that are coming for us that have “yet to occur?”
If this reasoning is valid then the question is this…
What and who are you listening to ?
Where is your vision and dreams coming from ?
We race through our prayers and petitions to the Father with rarely stopping long enough after to LISTEN to His declarations! He is God and He is WORTHY of our ears AND our praise…. Let us not just raise our hands in full adoration but may we raise our ears to His “announcement of the unknown” and His “calling to a righteous purpose.”
Scripture and history assure us of this… when a broken man has failed to hear and seek God’s vision for himself, God WILL FIND another broken man to carry on…
Why allow it to pass you by? Why not me? Why not you?
