The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

Oh if I could have learned and loved this verse long ago!
Do you ever find yourself wishing to retract your words? Catch yourself wishing that you did NOT say the thing you said knowing you can never get those words back?
This verse came through my daily bible share app and I have to say, the timing was perfect. During times of strife and troubles I often find myself using my mouth to sort through the messes when here we read, “you have to only be silent”.
Yes, the Lord WILL fight for me… but how often do I let Him into the boxing ring and keep myself calm. This lesson goes right along with my needs to practice patience, reduce anger, and think before I speak. But here we read that we are to BE SILENT? As in, don’t say a word?
This can be a challenging task for any like myself, when the first reaction is to use our voice to pronounce opinions, or thoughts, or even advice. But God says to stay calm, to be silent and allow Him to do the work. Think about this for yourself. Do we make a habit of coming up with the solution or interjection at every opportunity we get? It’s a practice that goes against the grain in today’s race to the top and the passions of the flesh. Hear this, or let me tell you, or what about whens….. blah blah blah, be silent God says. I will fight for you is His promise.
To quote back a great few points from a friend remember the three questions we should be asking over all of it…
- Does God know my situation?
- Is there anything too big for Him to handle?
- Do I trust He has a great plan for me?
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
Good one Brandan…my mouth is usually wide open!
