PSALM 115:9-18
As I listened to these words this morning, I couldn’t help but to ask myself.. “Is more of those like me a good thing?”
Read in verse 16 – The heavens are the Lord’s heavens, but the earth He has given to the children of man…
The context is the glory of God’s name and His redemptive work for Israel. That God’s name be glorified through and around their lives. So much strength and blessings and power He bestowed to the chosen tribe that they HAD to give the glory back to Him. Although time and time again, through many kings that abandoned God and built other idols misleading the people, this place they returned to… To glorify God’s name in their lives and hearts.
How many people do you know that are ready to give up and throw in the towel today? How many are just DONE and can’t go on another day?
Yet the Lord promises Israel multiplication and even more so to their children. He sees some things in them that they cannot see on their own. He knows a future in store that they cannot truly comprehend. We are much more fortunate as the HOLY SPIRIT has been given to us to aid in our future outlook.
17 “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;
18 even on my male servants and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;
20 the sun shall be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood,
before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.
21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
Acts 2:17-21
We are infused with Him as followers of Christ. We must remember the Israelites had a much different interaction with the Lord. Regardless, you are bound for multiplication, in Christ, your family, your children, your legacy, are BOUND to become MORE and MORE and MORE through God.
Are you living a life that deems multiplication? In the world today we NEED grace and holiness and purity and righteousness. We NEED Barnabas style MEN that are living for Christ, dying to self, and putting others first AFTER HONORING GOD. We need to be ready for the multiplication of our ministries and especially for our children!
So we ask together.. is more of us a good thing?
