God wants Christians to LAF Out Loud!
God desires for us to Love-Accept-Forgive (LAF). The world and even our spouses and children look at us who are Christians as the moral police rather than folks who represent a grace-filled God. The way to change these opinions is to LAF. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned but have not love, I gain nothing. How much of what we say as Christians is a “noisy gong or a clanging cymbal?” We talk about our powerful faith which is worth nothing to the world if it is not based on love. We are willing to tithe and even give above ten percent. However, if we are not loving others, it is worth little. The love we are discussing here is agape…sacrificial love. Love that is not based on me but on Him. Let me assure you, the world sees us love like our Savior, they will take note because it is selfless, non-judgmental and full of grace. It is life changing to all that experience it. John 13:34-35 states, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Love like this, others will know that we are His disciples because they see Him through us. BTW, take a good look at what this love looks like in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a. This is love that “speaks out loud” to the world without saying a word!
God’s Word states in Romans 15:7 “Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” This does not mean to condone sin but accept the person. Accept others in a graceful/merciful/caring way and they will see and praise Jesus. Others don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Accept others and love like Jesus…that speaks out loud!
Finally, learn to forgive even when you are being attacked. Take others off your hook and place them and keep them on God’s hook. He will take care of them in a fair and equitable way. Matthew 6:12 “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” Forgive others as He has forgiven you. It will speak out loud through actions without a word!
Matthew 5:14-16 is powerful. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Guys, let’s not hide our light, the light of Jesus. Let’s rub against the world and each other and LAF out loud!
