Getting past the grey

The man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence indeed is the LORD, is blessed. He will be like a tree planted by water: it sends its roots out toward a stream, it doesn’t fear when heat comes, and its foliage remains green. It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 HCSB

Trust is a difficult word to really get your head around. We “trust” many things without really acknowledging them. You trust the engine of the car, the tires, the bank that holds your money, we trust our spouses & friends (or want to trust them), we trust the roof, the refrigerator.  You get the idea.

This verse came up today in one of my daily bible apps and what caught my attention beyond the “trust” word was endurance, perseverance, and confidence. All 4 of these words seem to thread the same principle… “are you ok even if you don’t know?”

Let me word that another way, my close friends will resonate with this word play… “you might just have to sit in that grey area for a bit”.    Umm.. no thank you right?

How about if God said this to you, “I ‘m not going to reveal that answer or reason to you until you come to Heaven and I can show it to you personally.”     That is the grey area.

Back to the verse…    the man who has confidence in the LORD is blessed. Jeremiah calls it out and GOD SAYS you are blessed. You are to SEEK the water of the stream. You do NOT fear the heat and remain “green” or in a man’s case “content, pleasant, joyful, strong, loving” – you put the adjective you need there for your life.  And finally, you WILL NOT WORRY & YOU, not your buddy, not your wife, not your pastor…. YOU WILL BEAR FRUIT.

Let us be this confident, trust-in-God man today friends. Let us build it, push it, move it, tear it down, make them laugh, grab their hand, sing in the psalm. WE ARE CALLED for  more than normal. We are CALLED to grow and challenge and WITNESS in this time. I’m all fired up this morning and I’m feeling contagious. What if everyone you talked to today was just flat out thinking… ” Now that guy’s got something inside him that I want.”

Yes sir I do. His name is Jesus and He wants you now.
