Time Out

Time Out

Mark 6:31

“31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”

I need a time out, do you ever feel that way? Eventually the hectic pace will catch up to us. If we have been busy-busy, we can run so hard we hardly have time to eat properly, focus on life properly, or the people who are in it. Everyone gets shorted, perhaps even our tempers. We need to follow the Lord’s instruction, “rest a while”. Set yourselves apart from the activities holding you captive.

Sleep, are we getting enough? If we don’t it will surely catch up, and at the most in-opportune time in some cases. Remember Psalm 127:2 “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.” He loves you, so, get to bed. Rejuvenate your minds for another day’s activities. You don’t wanna run out of gas running down field, or another analogy, run out of gas on life’s highway.

Thoughts under pressure can keep us anxious. God’s desire is we go to Him in prayer, and wait on Him. Psalm 37:7 “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” Give it up to God, as Jesus has instructed to take hold of yolks with Him and he’ll help carry that load. Arm in arm, trusting in Him. He’ll bring us along and lighten that burden, and that includes just waiting on Him. If he’s waiting, it’s a decision of His perfect timing and sometimes that is just the rest we needed.

Genesis 2:2-3 “And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.” Finally, are we taking a day to rest whether we call that the start to a great new week, or the grand finale on a week.?  I think I’ll look at as book ends. I’ll tell you, when I miss out, the books hit the floor. Take that day, that time out, to refresh your souls and give glory to the one who holds it all in His hands and that includes caring for our rest.

Lord, guide us into all your truths and help us to trust in you and find that rest, even the eternal. Give us a new beginning today to make all things right and pleasing to you. We love you for it all and it’s in your name we pray, Amen.
