23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
What does this picture remind you of? This could very well be me, in my last failed attempt in running the race in life. It could have been our last argument with our spouse, poor decision making of work duties, yielding to any temptation we ought not have. What ever the case, we did it, landed flat on our faces in it. Well here’s our choices, wallow or overcome?
Jeremiah 8:4 “You shall say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Do men fall and not get up again? Does one turn away and not repent?
It doesn’t matter if we fell right in to our old ways, we get back up by the power of that Holy Spirit! It’s that Spirit which convicts us right now, that evidence of God’s working power. Look here and hear, John 16:13 (Phi) “Yet when that one I have spoken to you about comes–the Spirit of truth–he will guide you into everything that is true.” and guide you in what is not true. Let’s reconcile with God or those relationships we’ve mucked up. 1 John 1:9– If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
How about failure in unsuspecting calamity? Even there we can find the courage to get up!
That’s right, even when we’ve fallen, tripped, found ourselves rutted, we get back up!!
Off the horse, well partner get back up, and giddy up!
Don’t let other keep you down,
Micah 7:8 “Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. Though I fall I will rise; Though I dwell in darkness, the LORD is a light for me.” That’s right, the Lord is your all, in all, and who you are living for!
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” and moving forward, 1 Corinthians 10:13- “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].”
12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.
All of this leads us to this, we each fail. We each fail in the area of the 10 commandments. The positive, this shows us the need of that risen savior, because we all fall short. It’s a lot to think on, but, my hope is we’re encouraged to get up again. His mercies are renewed every day. Have you trusted in that savior, Jesus?
Father in heaven, thank you for your word and Spirit. Guide us in your truths today and help us to walk a new day in your light and presence, trusting in Jesus always in all things, Amen.
Alright, get up and dust yourselves off my friends. Be a light and be a blessing.
