The Barnabas Man

1 Timothy 4:6-10

[6] If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. [7] Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; [8] for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. [9] The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. [10] For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. (ESV)

The Barnabas Man is there for his brother. The daily existence and use of our friendships is vital to growth, maturity, and strength in our life and faith alike. I cannot recall a time in my life when growth and development and positive energy did not involve direct contact with community and love from friends. So why start encouraging others? We are called to do this. Become trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. Ignore the irreverent and silly myths. TOIL and STRIVE..  Meaning place great energy and effort on this task. For this striving shows and shares the HOPE that is set on the living God!

Is it not just awesome to recite God’s Word? Is it not just awesome to share life with another? A spouse, a child, a friend? This is the purpose for the Barnabas Man Blog. That is some odd and explainable way God will continue to knit friendships together through the encouragement and wisdom of another.  Through His Spirit a man set alone will join up with another brother and get strong, and fit, and be prepared and trained for this spiritual battle we face each day. For it… for this is an ETERNAL WAR. Today is the only day we have to train and work and win hearts for Christ. When Eternity arrives that opportunity will be no longer present. Say then, we may be the blessed at that time amidst an everlasting JOY and BEAUTY but how many more will we be wishing could attend?
