“You have heard; now see all this;
and will you not declare it?
From this time forth kI announce to you new things,
hidden things that you have not known.
7 They are created now, not long ago;
before today you have never heard of them,
lest you should say, ‘Behold, I knew them.’
8 You have never heard, you have never known,
from of old your ear has not been opened.
For I knew that you would surely deal treacherously,
and that lfrom before birth you were called a rebel.
9 m“For my name’s sake I defer my anger;
for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you,
that I may not cut you off.
10 Behold, I have refined you, nbut not as silver;
11 pFor my own sake, for my own sake, I do it,
for how should my name2 be profaned?
qMy glory I will not give to another.
For My own sake, for my own sake, I do it. Over and over and over in Isaiah we hear God describe the reasons for His Purpose and His Mission and His Will is BECAUSE OF HIMSELF! Does that hurt a little bit? (laughing in ashamed thoughts right now) Sure it hurts right?
As if God can save my life because of how great I am right? I mean think about it, everyone we read of in the scriptures was great and awesome before God? Everyone was clean and fixed and had their life together and structured. Not a dang hair out of place with any of us. Adam, Eve, Cain, Abraham, Moses, David, Paul (Saul), Peter, Matthew, Zacchaeus, Mary, Noah, Ruth, Esther, John the Baptist…. Joseph? It’s quite amazing is it not? I wonder if we were to run a risk analysis how it would read on “great candidates for success” after going through the people God has impacted in scripture?
Everything I have done surely deems God the Creator of the Universe to rescue me and save me to eternity. Don’t we deserve such wonderful news?
Often we forget how stupid that sounds. God saves Israel because of HIS NAMESAKE. His saves people because of WHO HE IS. He restores righteousness and justice because of HIMSELF. He vindicates on account of HIS CHARACTER! He saved me for HIS NAME not mine! That I may go out today and tell of HIS GLORY and tell of HIS SON and tell of HIS MIGHT and HIS POWER and HIS LOVE and HIS WILL.
Oh for us to just grab this and keep it dear. This one piece of life that simply humbles, and molds, and guides, and drives, and RESTORES. That God gives His glory out freely to those that can promote HIM!
