So in opening my Father’s Day gifts I’ve been playing around with some technology. I literally just opened my bible app to sync up with a new device and THIS was the verse for today, Father’s Day.
“Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.”
Psalms 68:5 ESV
Many people struggle or have struggled with today’s holiday for many reasons. Also struggles include those who know they could have done fatherhood better or different or not absent or whatever, the lists can go on forever right?
Or should they?
My wife is amazing and in her amazing-ness yesterday as I attempted to go dark and down and negative about all the junk I wished was different or had or didn’t have or gave or didn’t give …. her words were simple… “Our lives are to point people to the real Father, who loves us as we are and forever and without cause.”
God our Father is our Dad. God Creator is the flawless Father. God alone can fill that void that I, and he, and they, and you have tried and failed at filling. We have to stop the blame and the Shane and the fear and just LET HIM BE DAD. Who cares how we got here or who didn’t do the perfect life… we ALL FALL SHORT in comparison to HIM.
So give up, surrender, and let go… then grab hold of Him reaching out to embrace you. He is Father God and protector in His Holy Habitation.
