Psalm 19 7-11
The law of the Lord is perfect,[c]
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
the rules[d] of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
This morning I find myself in a difficult place and am longing for my soul to be revived. I am grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness and for His provision that He continually meets me where and I am provides what I need.
Here in Psalm 19 He tells me that it is His word that I need to revive my soul. All to often lately I have turned to other things to revive my soul and to heal my hurting heart. The world is not at a loss for providing those things that say they will take the pain away, drugs, alcohol, success etc. 1 John 2:15-17 reminds me “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever”.
Just for today, Just for this moment, can I – will I seek His spirit to revive my soul, for my heart to rejoice and to enlighten my eyes. He endures forever and He is to be desired more that gold and His words are sweeter than any honey that I have ever tasted.
