11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

1 Peter 2:11-12.

A simple sentence right – The Passions of your flesh WAGE WAR AGAINST YOUR SOUL. Who wants their soul to be at war? Abstaining from the “passions of flesh” is the answer? We read and study and learn and try and dig and yearn….. but it can be simple really… be doing great deeds and glorify God. Find your mission. Focus on that. Dump all the other crap and junk and useless pursuits. What do they bring us? Nothing more than WAR AGAINST OUR SOULS. No thanks. We’re not looking for that. We’re  looking for the glory of God and good deeds. Being a citizen that contributes to the good of mankind.

  1. Wow, great, I can really see the application here…
I hear it, like a friend pleading to me with earnest love. Reminding me I appear as a stranger, foreigner, somebody new to others.
Keep myself from unhealthy habits such as drunkeness, greed, laziness, etc., which war against me. .. These things keep me from spiritual advancement in the cause. Can that not as well be said of my work, physically as well?
    Hmm. ….

    1. My conversation, honest, truthful, – fruitful ( thereby commending to faith what we profess ).
Sometimes evil is spoken against one. New relations, community, work environment, cause us to seem as outsiders under suspicion. We need them to behold the truth in our words spoken and action taken so they praise God in the end.
Lord, thank you for reminding me. .. Does my walk talk louder than my talk talks.
